How to build your network when transitioning to a career in technology

A personal essay to rebuild your network when you are transitioning to technology

In this article, I shared 3 advice for those who are seeking to make a career change.

One of the main questions I receive is about how to build (or rebuild) your network after you make a career change.

When transitioning to a tech career, building a strong network can be crucial for success. Here are a few tips to help you get started:

Attend tech-related events

Attend local meetups, conferences, and events related to your field of interest. This will allow you to meet people who share your passion and potentially connect with professionals who can offer guidance.

Connect on social media

Join online groups and forums related to your field. Share your thoughts, ask questions, and engage with others in the community. This can help you build relationships and gain valuable insights into the industry.

Volunteer

Volunteering at tech-related events can be a great way to meet people and gain experience. It also shows that you are committed to the industry and willing to go the extra mile.

Reach out to alumni

If you attended a university or college, reach out to alumni who work in the tech industry. They may be able to offer advice or introduce you to others in the field.

It will take time and effort to build your network, but it is worth it.

I advise you to be patient, be genuine, and be willing to give as much as you receive. With perseverance, you can build a strong network that will help you succeed in your tech career.
